Compressed air riveter

Compressed air riveter

Air compressed riveter, pneumatic compressed air rivet gun changed construction and manufacturing more than a century ago.  Instead of tools and brute force, rivets could be riveted more efficiently, cleaner, and with less effort. Pneumatic rivet guns available at are common in the aerospace and automotive industries, where the assembly line and tight construction product spaces require a fast, convenient, and powerful riveting solution.  They are also often used in construction and metal fabrication.

Advantages of compressed air riveting machines:

Pneumatic riveting guns offer countless advantages over manual riveting tools and, depending on the application, are preferable to cordless battery-operated riveting tools.  Some of the advantages of pneumatic riveters include:

Lightweight Construction – Modern portable air rivet guns will not wear out your arms;  even the sturdiest models weigh no more than 12 pounds.

Ease of Use – Pneumatic Riveters follow a simple process for setting rivets.  This allows users to set multiple rivets in a short amount of time, without putting physical stress on their hands like a hand rivet tool would.

No Rechargeable Power Source Needed – Unlike cordless rivet guns, you won’t worry about running out of charge or having batteries replaced.

Quality Riveting: The compressed air riveter offers a precision accessory every time with little effort.  The margin of error is much smaller than with a manual riveter.

Cons of pneumatic rivet guns

Pneumatic rivet guns are not perfectly suitable for all applications and the tool has some drawbacks, including:

Limited Reach: The Air Compressed Riveter will only go as far as your air hoses will allow, so in some hard-to-reach areas you may need a handheld or cordless riveter.  And for some types of remote work, access to a compressor just isn’t an option.

Complicated Repairs – Fixing an air rivet gun is neither easy nor inexpensive.  Generally, an experienced technician should be hired to perform repairs on his equipment.  Simple maintenance measures like greasing the tool and tightening the fasteners go a long way to keeping your rivet gun running.

The compressor: Ensuring that the compressor you are using is at the correct pressure setting is imperative for the correct operation of the rivet gun.  Also, you must maintain the compressor and keep the air hose oiled.

Precautions when using a compressed air rivet tool

  • Every tool requires some maintenance precautions, and this gun is no exception.
  • The pneumatic rivet gun needs to be greased lightly on a daily basis.
  • When you are not using the rivet gun, you must separate it from the source
  • Unplug the gun while changing parts for regular maintenance or repair.
  • Do not press the trigger without assured play.
  • Always wear safety glasses while operating the gun.

Operating a compressed air riveter requires more than operational knowledge.  Therefore, before including a pneumatic rivet gun in your toolbox, you need to clearly know how a pneumatic rivet gun works.  This knowledge will allow you to make the most of it during application.
